    About “Chris Owen”

    1. Chris Owen

I live and write in eastern Canada I went to a bunch of schools, learned a lot of things, and now make stuff up because not to do so is unthinkable I m fond of fountain pens, Levenger s Circa system, and Steampunk fashions I m inspired by the day to day minutia of life, and find beauty in the way words go together I like texture and richness of experience I m not shy I m happy, I m learning, I m living.

    1. Thought the secret society stuff was a little silly, but I liked the romanceWarning: This review might contain what some people consider SPOILERS. Rating: 8/10PROS: - I really liked the romance in this book. It progresses quickly but believably, between two lifelike and three-dimensional characters, and I truly believed at the end of the book that their relationship was settled and could last for a lifetime.- Owen does an excellent job of including little details here and there that combine very [...]

    2. Away from his old highschool, Lee is thoroughly surprised when he meets in Joey a member of the same secret brotherhood he used to belong to. He expected even less to fall in love with Joey. But although they ought to be brothers in spirit, Lee isn't sure they can overcome their issues. This was more like 3,75 stars; since there isn't such a rating, I gave it 4. A really nice and satisfactory read. Lee and Joey are believable, well - developed, and there's a lot of additional staff. The book was [...]

    3. I've read this book about 6 times now and realized that I've never reviewed it! It's one of my favorite re-reads so I should really take the time and explain why I love it so much. This book just hits all of my buttons, it's got a few very emotional parts that make me cry and then others where I'm grinning like a mad woman. Both Lee and Tony are well developed characters and I loved seeing their relationship develop. I also enjoyed the ensemble feeling to the story, with secondary characters that [...]

    4. Another entertaining tale from Chris Owen. I find the idea of secret societies intriguing, much like I enjoy a good conspiracy theory. The setting was rich and the secondary characters were adorable. Having said that, I think I found myself more intrigued with the "Chosen Family" and its history rather than the romance unfolding between the main characters. Lee was a great character - brought to life in the beautiful, flawed fashion Chris Owen does so well. Joey was a little more of a mystery to [...]

    5. WOW!!! Ok so this is like the 5th time I've read this book since I bought it a year ago. I have laughed and cried at the same times, on the same chapters each time.I love it, the message, the insight, the irony is a fantastic read. I love Chris Owen's work, and this is one of my all time favs for sure I wish there would have been a sequel. Matt and Chantz story would have being great, Definetely Tony and Peter, and perhaps a fresh look at TCF with Brian and Ezra. One can only hope

    6. More like 3.5 stars, really. Chris Owen is one of my VERY FEW auto-buy authors which made my disappointment in this story that much stronger. It was good, and I loved the premise, but it felt like the story was either a little rushed or that it needed to be simplified. There were hints of melodrama in there -- and while I enjoy melodrama sometimes (I should hope; I *write* enough of it), it was a little surprising to encounter it from an author that I've grown to associate with crisp, sweet stor [...]

    7. The main characters Are in a (rather smug) secret society of gay uni students who choose their members by looking for 'honerable, smart gay men' wh can and will keep secrets. This provides their link and the initial fascination at least on lee's part and, although there was also chemistry, it is also the main excuse for packing a whole romance into a little more than 2 weeks.

    8. Main character is Lee. In his study years he got into secret Family society. Now he is doing his doctor thesis. While working he meets a guy who was or is a Family member of same hidden society. Book starts from point on. Plot was interesting but I did not like the way we where jumping from present time to past time. I was confusing.

    9. I'm not sure why this one got to me so much. I really like the theme of the secret society, and I like the characters a lot, but I think it's the 'Chosen Family' aspect of it that really got me. Excellent read. 4.5 stars. If it has the re-readability, I'll up it to 5 eventually.

    10. Another great story with a very likable cast of characters from Chris Owen! She continues to be one of my all-time favorites in the M/M genre!!

    11. book premise: getting your doctorate will lift you out of povertyme: *laugh until I cry, then cry and cry*DNFYMMV

    12. I thought I wasn't going to like it because it took a while to draw me in. Once it did I was hooked. This is a gentle story and well worth the time to understand it.
