    1. Truly interesting. Many twist and turns and the ending was a bit of a surprise. If you enjoy the Matthew Bartholomew series, you will find this series as interesting. 2. First Sentence: It was often said that if a wicked man had the temerity to touch the sacred relics of one of the God’s saints, he would be consumed by holy fire and doomed to suffer the torments of Hell for eternity.Sir Geoffrey and Sir Roger have had enough of England. They have come to Southampton to begin their passage back to the Holy Land. On the way into town, they witness and fight between two men, one of whom ends up dead from a cross-bow bolt. When one of Geoffrey’s servants is simi [...]

    3. This is a great read set in Medieval England only decades after the Norman invasion. The protagonist is a knight recently returned from the Crusades and about to set off again for the Holy Land when he and his companion are sidetracked by the Bishop of Durham to perform a service for him. They are then drawn into a plot that leaves lots of dead bodies in their wake. A nice read and historically interesting as well.

    4. writing is a bit pedestrian but history and color make up for it, as well as mystery pretty good--mostly good for its time travel aspects
