    1. Now that Harriet can read she is taking a more active role in choosing her library books. She is returning to old favorite authors, like Bill Martin Jr. A recent find of his is Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, Are You Waking Up?This book explores the morning routine of a young kitten as he gets ready for school. Parents and school aged children will recognize the speed bumps in the routine: it's hard to get up, it's hard to pick out the right outfit, food is more fun to play with than eat, and so forth.Bil [...]

    2. First sentence: Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, are you waking up? Not yet, Mother, I'm a sleepy buttercup.Premise/plot: Does this kitty cat have a hard time getting up out of bed and getting ready for school? Oh, yes! One of the reasons why this book may just be so easy to relate to for both children and adults. My thoughts: Loved it. I think I liked it much more than Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, Are You Going To Sleep. I enjoyed the rhymes very much. My favorite:Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, are you out of bed?Not yet, [...]

    9. Sweet Bedtime StoryFor very small children. An excellent book to open or close a naptime or nighttime story session. Soft watercolor images are a bit saccharine but cute.

    10. This book is fine, but I wasn't crazy about it. As cats go, it's weird to basically make this character a human child who looks like a cat. Not a storytime contender.

    11. So cuteMy granddaughter will love the pictures because she loves cats. The story is funny because children get into these fixes and adults need reminding of the adorableness.

    12. Sweet story about a kitten who has trouble getting moving for school in the morning. The catchy rhyme and beautiful watercolor pictures will make this a fun read for young children.

    21. A cute little story of the kitty that needs to be getting up and ready for school, but plays around. A quick bed time story for my daughter. She loved it!!

    22. This book makes me want to linger in bed as long as I please and take a long long time getting ready for the day, til I am nearly late. Preferably with a kitten.

    23. Actually, my cats say this to me every morning. "Mom, mom, are you waking up yet?" as they poke and prod at my face. But in this story mother cat keeps prompting her baby to get up, get dressed, and get ready for school. Baby cat, however, is a slowpoke and a bit of a procrastinator. Does Mom get impatient with him? No way! In fact, the picture of Mom hugging her baby toward the end is SO cute. The soft pastel pictures are the perfect accompaniment to this rhyming, repetitive story, a great read [...]

    24. Kitty Cat has all sorts of excuses for why she is late doing her morning activities to get ready for school, but eventually she does finish getting ready and apologizes to her mother for being so slow.Told completely in rhyme, this book reads in a nice beat that kids can easily follow. And the antics of Kitty Cat are humorously entertaining, while adults will appreciate she does the right thing in the end. A cute read for cat fans, those who like slightly silly reads, or those kids who just can' [...]

    25. I liked some things about this book. It's a cute, true-to-life depiction of the sort of lollygagging most kids do when you are trying to get them out of the house in the morning. In that regard, it could be a useful one to keep in mind for when my son gets a bit older. I liked that there were so many elements in the pictures to point out to my toddler (cat, mouse, fish, blocks, cup, shoes, etc etc etc.). However, I have to admit that I found it obnoxious to read. I can see how the Q&A rhyme [...]

    26. This is the cat version of what most parents of young children go through. Mother cat calls to Kitty Cat to ask if he is doing a specific task – waking up, getting dressed, cleaning himself, only to have Kitty Cat reply with an excuse why he isn’t doing it. This goes back and forth until the very last page when Kitty Cat apologizes for being so slow getting ready for school. The last picture you see is Mother Cat driving him to school.
