    1. An enjoyable read in an intriguing world, but be aware this is only the beginningTakes place in a post-apocalyptic world where the horrible stuff has already happened. In fact, much of the conflicts are in the past, from the kidnapping of children to the fights between siblings. This book reads much like a prologue to larger things to come. I couldn't help but be drawn in because the world is populated by so many honorable characters trying not only to survive, but also live, love, and laugh. A [...]

    2. I was never much of a science fiction fan until I read Dreamer's Island. The author has spun a novel with vivid descriptions and phenomenal writing that brought Devil's Island and its inhabitants to life in my mind's eye. Intrigue, mystery, suspense, and the resilient bond of love between a parent and a child are just some of the elements Gretchen Hummel weaved into her futuristic novel that kept me page turning. Dreamer's Island is truly a reader's paradise.

    3. "Dreamer's Island" is a fascinating novel that kept me engaged in the riveting story. The characters came alive for me. I always judge a book by whether I think about the characters after I have finished the book and wonder what continues to happen in their lives. This was definitely the case with this book. I hope the author will write a follow-up novel so I can see how the lives of Blair and her companions unfold.
